Email Marketing Is Dead? Not So Fast..

Everyone appears to be real quick to conclude that email marketing is dead, that all your marketing e-mail ends up in spam and no one reads it to begin with.

This it not the case! I can tell you, I've spent a great deal of money with two different companies that sent me great information through an email marketing campaign. I thought, "Hey, if they are giving information like this away for free.. what they are actually selling must be amazing!" I was hooked! Yes Sir, I bought what they were selling. Need more proof that email marketing is a great way to get inbound traffic? Our HEROES at Hubspot have decided to start using email marketing! Yes, I'm in!

To be great at email marketing and list building, it helps to have a great software to use.  We use Aweber and we love it.  We can segment our lists, customize our sign up forms easily, and they have a drag and drop email creator which is pretty easy to use and it makes customization very easy.  First rule of thumb when it comes to email marketing-get a good system in place. Using Aweber does just that for us.

Tips For A Great Email Marketing are as Follows:
A Great opt-in You have to have something that people are "foaming at the mouth" to get their hands on. A must have free report!
This free report has to have information that person values. In exchange, you get their e-mail. So umm now what?

Treat that e-mail address with respect Only send something of value and build a relationship with this person. PLEASE don't spam them with every offer you have. They will do one of 2 things if you do. Opt out or stop opening your mail.

Send valuable info Only send that person something that you would want to receive; valuable information. What does that dot? Builds trust. The more valuable information you send, the more the more respect you gain from that potential client. Then come trust and a sale or a they will refer your company to someone they know needs your service. It's Win Win.

Be consistent. Plan what days you will send e-mail and send great information to your e-mail list. Mondays and Thursdays at 5:50a.m. are considered the best times to send. I promise if you are good.. They'll be excited to get that e-mail. I know I was when I was so on fire about great campaign I was receiving. It was the first thing I opened. Send it on a certain day and make the next e-mail better than the last one.

Respect your client Your "List" is the life's blood of your company. Respect your e-mail clients like you would someone who walked on the door of your company asking for your services. These people are in your funnel or can be if treated right.

Now We Want to Hear it From You. Have you every gotten a hold of an email marketing campaign that set you on fire? Have you ever opted out of one because all they did was spam you? My Story .. The first e-mail marketing plan i fell in love with decided after months of being the best thing since slice bread to spam me everyday with "push marketing" . I broke up with them by opting out. I can tell you it was painful but had to be done. Share with us what you think of using e-mail marketing as an inbound marketing tool. Has this ever happened to you?

I totally agree ~ email marketing is where it's at, if it's done right.  And you have some great tips for doing it right. My experience is consistency and knowing when to expect you are the key. I also think it's important to brand your newsletter so people will recognize it when they see it and come to identify your branding with value.

Respect and honor are the keys to growing your list. When people know that they are recognized by you as their blog-friend; they llook forward to hear from you and will stay on your list. I think the editor's note is very important when you send out your emails, wouldn't you thnk so??

    • Elizabeth
      June 12, 2012 | 7:58 pm

Yes indeed.. Never stray from that pattern of giving great information… you can market also but give that gift and you will develop an awesome relationship.
