Creating A Blog Worth Reading
What’s your blog say about you and your company? Have you thought about that before creating a blog. Whether you realize it or not, it is saying something and if you’ve never put much thought into it, then you’re probably not saying too much. If you think your blog is secondary think again. More and more people are reading blogs these days and it is also your blog that has all the power in Google and other search engines. Many times potential clients will find you first through your blog. So blogging is very important, and if done right, a beautiful addition to your social media marketing mix.
Things to consider for your Business Website
What are your readers gaining from reading your blog? That is the question you have to ask yourself every time you sit down to write a new blog post. You want to be able to give away something of value, some knowledge in your field that your readers need. If they are finding what they need and are informed, then they will keep coming back. They will do this because you are adding value to them and making it worth their time. There are a couple of ways you can add value without giving away your closest guarded business secrets. I’ll give you a hint: it involves informing and entertaining.
What information do you have that your readers don’t but need? You can keep let readers know what your company is doing in the community. You can answer reader questions in your blog posts. If one reader has the question, no doubt someone else was thinking it right?
You can never go wrong with facts. Give them statistics, fun facts about your industry or even your business. There are billions of searches performed on Google a day and guess what? They are all looking for something; they are all looking for the answers to their questions. Are you providing them with that?
I don’t know about you, but I just flat-out find some blogs boring. It is excruciating skimming through to pick out the bits you really want to read. The biggest way to entertain is to simply be yourself when you write. Don’t pretend you are some lower paid intern writing on behalf of the company, or some bot coming up with content. You have to converse with people on their level when creating a blog post. And if you want to throw in a joke or two, or a few sarcastic remarks, if that is your personality, then go for it!
Keeping Readers Up To Date
If you are having an upcoming event or product launching, your blog is exactly where you should be writing about it. You can post pictures of past events, seminars, and classes you put on or even attended. Your readers love to know more about you, and your business, and you want your website/blog to be a go-to place for people wanting to know what’s going on in your business. Creating a blog post about what you and your business are up to is a great idea.
People want to be both seen and heard. Readers can interact on a blog, and the more you give them the opportunity to, the more they will. Contests are great ways to gain interaction and get your readers involved. Also recognizing your most active members of the community, or inviting them to do a guest post to share what they know.
