5 Tips to Engage Your FaceBook Fans Like A Pro

Wondering how to increase engagement on your Facebook Fan Page? Its so frustrating to constantly share updates and "relevant" information only to check back in three hours to find that only two people have liked your status.  One being you, and the other your best friend or mentor. Here a couple proven strategies you can use to spice up your interaction with your fans on Facebook.

Ask Questions

There is no better way to get your audience engaged then to simply invite them to engage by asking a question.  It can be something as simple as asking how their day is going, or asking their favorite color, or what weekend plans they have.  People love talking about themselves and if you start the conversation with a question people are more likely to engage with you.

Have Chats And Events

A cool way to increase engagement on your fan page is to have a "chat".  Pick a topic relevant to your fan's interest and your business, set a time to invite your fans back and start a chat by asking questions, giving advice; you could even give something away free to those who participate to encourage participation.

You could also invite an expert in your field to "take over" your page for an hour and invite your fans to ask them questions.  That expert will no doubt announce to their fans they will be on your fan page and viola, instant exposure!

Use Pictures

Pinterest is so popular because people are more likely to look at pictures than read words.  Even quotes done on interesting backgrounds will get more engagement than if they are just written out.  Pictures are a great way to interact and engage on your fan page.

Inspire People

People like to be inspired.  If you are boring people with business updates ALL the time then they won't engage.  Take inspiring quotes from people in your industry, or come up with your own.  But inspire, motivate, encourage, and don't forget to make people laugh.

Ask People To Share

After you have taken the time to provide something engaging to your audience, simply ask them to share it. Encourage your fans to share or like whatever tid-bit or quote with their own friends. Before you know it, their friends are your new fans.

So now it's your turn.  Have you tried these tricks? How have they worked for you? What other tips do you have to share? Don't be shy, leave us a comment!

  1. I love your steps to using Facebook. But isn't it like any other social platfloor? You are sharing more of others content more than your. To be honest I am new. I have only been at this for one year. I am learning how to do newsletters and create lists. From what I read it should help. But I have only made $60 in commission. I know people would love the products and my ultimate goal is to approach business people in real estate. I guess I go back to the drawing board. Thank you for sharing this article. Gives me something to think on. :)

    • No.. lol If you do that then you will never build Edgerank which does make it different than other platforms. You can uplaod other’s information and share it but if you mostly share from another’s page you will never build much Edgerank for yourself!

  2. Great ideas. Tried all except chat. Looking forward to trying that. Contests have worked extremely well for me in the past.

  3. Great article but I gotta say, after getting this question from a couple of people, the first thing is "how do I get the first bunch of visitors on my page within the first weeks of its creation"?

  4. Love the tips..;)

  5. Great post.  I'm going to share with my social media trainees Liz.

  6. Great tips Liz, thanks for sharing.  I've tried all of them except the chats/events and I would agree, it definitely helps people respond.  It's kind of amazing what a big difference in engagement it makes when you reach out to someone and invite them into your space.  I guess it's like being invited into someone's home ~ you're much more reluctant to come in without an invitation unless you're really comfortable there!
